Alongside the core work of launching, growing and supporting our partners’ online programmes, the Skilled Education team has had a busy week of advocacy for innovation in higher education.Our CEO, Rajay Naik, spent two days at the Ditchley Foundation focussed on “the impact of AI on work and education” with a group that included Lord Willetts, Jan Hall, Imran Shafi OBE, Paul Kett, Jo Johnson and John Thornhill. We also held a productive meeting with UK Department for Education Minister, Diana Barran, on the Lifelong Learning Entitlement, AI and accessibility before our team joined sector colleagues at a Higher Education Policy Institute fees and funding event with James Purnell, Vivienne Stern, Nicholas Hillman, Sally Mapstone and others.Yesterday evening our Chief Operating Officer, Joanne Roxburgh, and others were at the US Embassy for a reception (including Professor Martin Bean CBE, Helen Laville, April McMahon, Colin Riordan and Chris Ball) hosted by our friends at Instructure.Alongside our partners Skilled Education will continue to share our expertise, learnings and data in the run up to the introduction of the LLE and UK general election – helping to ensure that policy and regulation foster greater innovation, quality and access to Britain’s world-class higher education system.

A huge thank you to all of our team, partners and students across the world for a wonderful 2023. We have launched a record number of degrees, recruited and supported more students than ever, designed award-winning learning experiences, and are proud to maintain sector-leading retention and success rates. Skilled Education's mission to be the catalyst of online education for Universities and institutions is more important than ever, and we are looking forward to announcing more pioneering partnerships in the new year. We were thrilled to hear the Chancellor Jeremy Hunt announce in the Autumn Statement that funding for the Help to Grow Management programme will be extended. Since Spring 2021, Skilled has been on an incredible journey with the Department for Business and Trade, HM Treasury, the Chartered Association of Business Schools, and over 60 UK business schools to develop and support this unique upskilling programme, specifically designed for leaders of UK SMEs. It's already been transformative for tens of thousands of business leaders across the UK. Yesterday, our Chief Operating Officer, Joanne Roxburgh, who is also a mentor on the programme, had the privilege of attending the first national Help to Grow Management alumni event. She witnessed firsthand the profound impact the programme has had on UK business leaders. The government's renewed commitment ensures that we can keep supporting transformative learning and growth for many more UK businesses.
