TEXARKANA, Texas - The Louisiana Christian University baseball program put the finishing touches on both Friday's suspended game as well as the regular season on Saturday afternoon, dropping the series but salvaging the finale as a multitude of Wildcats stepped up when needed in a 6-3 victory to head into next week on a high note.

Wildcats Top Performers:

• Coleman Haltom has flourished in a long relief / closer hybrid role, cashing in his second save of the year by closing out the final four innings versus Texarkana without a run scored as the reigning RRAC Pitcher of the Week struck out three as he averaged just one base runner per frame.

• It might have taken until the 45th and final contest of the regular season, but Adrian Aguilar finally set a baseball packing in the win, belting his seventh career blast over the wall for a solo shot to give him his first of 2024.

*"Aggie" hit .375 (3-of-8) on the day with a pair of both ribbies and scores in addition to falling a triple shy of the doubleheader cycle, adding on a walk for good measure.

• Chris Kelley hit a home run off the pine for the third time of his debut campaign, as the pinch-hitter extraordinaire made his dent in the run column in replacement of Harrison Waxley right before the seventh inning stretch in the nightcap.

• The aforementioned Waxley led the Cats in RBIs despite a single hit, driving in three via a two-RBI base knock and the other on a TAMUT miscue in addition to drawing two walks,

• Going along with the theme of stepping into a spotlight and shining brightly, Luke Morgan, primarily a pinch-runner and fourth outfielder this year, was the leader of the pack regarding batting average, going 4-for-7 (.571) with half of those going for two bases, an RBI, a run scored, and the club's one steal.

• Tyler McKenna keeps making a habit out of beating up on these poor defenseless baseballs, batting a crisp .556 over ten plate appearances, piling up five hits, FOUR DOUBLES, a team-leading three runs, and a hit-by-pitch.

• Jacob Bareswill played the part of stopper for the Orange and Blue, improving his record to 3-0 courtesy of five frames of three-run work where he fanned five compared to three hits surrendered.

Next:

• The Diamond Cats will, in all likelihood, be the fifth seed in the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament in Sterlington, Louisiana, which would put them opposite the fourth seed at 1 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
